• Calypso, the Great Sea Nymph, daughter of the Titan Gods, Atlas and Thymus, was trapped by Zeus, God of all Gods, on the lonely island of Ogygia after the Titan War between the Titans and the Gods because she sided with the Titans during this war.
• Calypso had fallen in love with the brave and fearless warrior, Odysseus. After Odysseus and his men had won the Trojan War, they had gone through many adventures and all of his men that were left from those adventures had been killed by the sun god, Helios, because they had eaten his cattle, disregarding Odysseus' warning. So, Odysseus had alone washed up on Calypso's island.
• Because Calypso was so in love with Odysseus, she had made love to him while they were together on Ogygia. Th

• After Zeus ordered Calypso to send Odysseus home, she built him a boat and stocked it with enough food, water, and wine to make it back home. Calypso also gave him good winds to travel back home to Ithaca with.
• After Odysseus left Calypso alone in Ogygia, she attempted to kill herself. Since she was an immortal god, she only caused herself great pain.
• Before Odysseus left Ogygia, he had admitted to Calypso that she was more beautiful than his wife Penelope, but he had to go home to Ithaca to save his wife and the kingdom from the suitors trying to take both.
• While Calypso was trapped on Ogygia, she had an amazingly beautiful home in a cave. In the cave, her home was surrounded by trees, all sorts of flowers, and amazing vines.
• The name Calypso means "to conceal" or "to hide" in the Greek language.
